I really enjoyed Neil Jones’ presentation at ALL NorthEast Spanish day.

You can find all sorts of ideas and resources on his blog – http://mfljones.wordpress.com  – well worth a look whatever phase you teach.

I loved some of the advertisements he showed.  Here are two of them.  Torres has been forgiven and I love funny dogs.

I was interested to see a FB post by Foreign Language House recommending some video clips for Earth Day.

When I investigated further  I found that Earth Day is 22nd April.

Here are some clips to help you consider the environment with young learners on any day of the year!

La tierra está enferma

La carta de la Tierra

Dia Mundial de la Tierra – some images to help you think about our effect on nature.

Medio ambiente – a short video by Arena and Pablo giving their take on the environment.

And a little bit of help from Pocoyo!

And then there are a few sites that could be of use too!

Ecopibes.com looks a wonderful site all about the environment – both on Earth and in space – offering explanations, activities and advice!

Peques.com also has advice on looking after our environment both at home, at school and in the wider world.

Just missed it but here’s an article about World Water Day!

Some advice here for parents / teachers on how to interest kids in the environment.

And some Cuentos para dormir about nature and the environment. Sadly no pictures, but you do get a transcript and the audio is well read!

Another version of the Christmas story – this time, an animation with audio and songs, focussing on the story of Mary and Joseph.

Like this video clip on counting from 0-9.  Seems to be like the Spanish version of TenTown?

I’ve just had a go at sub titling one of my favourite Spanish kiddies song – La Vaca Lola.

What do you think?

I used a tool called Universal Subtitles that allows you to subtitle videos in a variety of formats.  Looks rather interesting – and useful!

I can’t seem to make it embed in WordPress so here’s the link!

30 minutes later – I’ve done another one – here’s Juguemos en el bosque.

Wow!  Just discovered that there are starter clips in Spanish too!

This time they’re set in Mexico.  They cover similar themes – traditions as well as daily life.

One particularly caught my eye – La cultura folclorica de Veracruz .  This short clip is about music and musicians, and a story telling festival.  This links with Unit 14 of the QCDA scheme – and I happen to be doing that at the moment with year5!

Hopefully this will help them understand what ‘la música folclórica’ is all about!
