I’ve set myself a challenge for 2010.

It has nothing to do with languages nor ICT, well, not really.
It has more to do with my mental wellbeing, and doing something different.
I love trees and find them beautiful and intriguing. Looking at trees makes me feel calm and secure. And recently I’ve been taking lots of photographs of trees.
So – my challenge – to take a photo of a tree every day for a year.
I’ll be publishing them on Flickr in my set Trees365 but I’ve also started a new blog called Trees365 on which I will publish them with, I hope, a slightly longer comment.
I’d love your comments and advice!

The Premiership season is over – how will I get to sleep at the weekend without Gary and Adrian?

Liverpool may not have won the Premiership, nor the Champions League but they still have the one and only ‘Nando xx

Looking forward to seeing him in action for Spain soon!

Hope you’re all having a lovely Bank Holiday. A little clip to amuse you all on this, Star Wars Day! You can’t go wrong with the Muppets!

Many of you who are regular visitors may have been puzzled at one time or another by a odd munching noise that started a few seconds after the page opened and went on sporadically whilst you read, Some worked out what it was, others remained puzzled, whilst still more asked me what it was.

For those who are still none the wiser, the noise was Señorita Ovejita Rosita, my virtual pet pink pig, who was a bit of a greedy guts and was constantly munching grass. There was an ‘off’ switch for her noise and as I had set it to ‘off’ I was unaware of how noisy she was.

However, after she freaked out attendees at a recent Flashmeeting and provoked comment in the chat, I felt enough was enough, and Señorita Ovejita Rosita has been moved on to greater things.

Her replacement is the altogether more placid (and silent!) Pablito Pingüino. Feel free to toss him a fish every so often – he’d very much like that.

I have to confess that I am a bit of a fan of the Eurovision Song Contest. Admittedly it has more to do with Terry Wogan’s hilarious commentary and the even more hilarious subtitling mistakes made by Ceefax than the music but I do enjoy some of the offerings from our European neighbours. Whilst the British entry gets more bizarre and desperate by the year (see Daz whatever-his-name-was in 2006 and Scooch last year!), I used to look forward to the Spanish entry.

This year, it has been brought to my attention by Ben Curtis that it’s not exactly the kind of song I’ve come to expect – Baila el ChikiChiki by Rodolfo Chikilicuatre may well be very catchy and will probably be the hit of the summer like Macarena by Los Rio, Asereje by Los Ketchup or Saturday Night by Whigfield but it has some decidedly dodgy words and I’m a bit concerned at the prospect of being asked to translate it come September when all the pupils return from their continental holidays! And is this really the best Spain has to offer?

Having said that, Ireland (with their proud tradition of Dana and Johnny Logan) are being represented by a turkey and you could say that the British entry is a turkey so perhaps it’s a sign that I should find something more interesting to do come 24th May – I’ll be in Spain so I’m sure the Chiringuito Ana y Antonio will be enjoying my custom :o)

Back to more important and relevant matters later!
